I believe one of the most important pages on a website is the About Us page. It is often misunderstood and at best undervalued. Going against the grain, I propose this page is more about the reader and less about the company or person. Here’s my reasoning: (more)

Following yesterday’s guilty verdict for three Google executives accused of breaching privacy laws in the Italian courts, will sites now have to be more accountable for the content that they host? This could well prove to be a landmark ruling in the history of the Internet. The air of invincibility surrounding content hosts has been well [...] You might also be interested in the following related posts:Google Face Double Trouble in European Courts Google Attempt to Demystify Duplicate Content Issues In... Internet marketing gossip is exploding — and the line between fact and fiction is blurring. If gossiping is a crime, then every blogger and Internet savvy professional needs to be incarcerated for this misdemeanor. What was once an indulgence is becoming a dependency as more and more individuals are turning to various social media outlets to extract their daily dose of breaking news and scandal. Today, people are simply taking a quick glance at their updates on Facebook and Twitter to squeeze out the la... (more)

I was at a tech meeting yesterday at Intero Real Estate in Fremont, CA talking internet marketing with a bunch of Realtors. One of the questions I got was "Is there an easy way to move all my personal Facebook photos over to my new Facebook business page". Here is a quick tutorial on how to do it. Doing a quick Google, I found a nice Firefox extension that lets you download entire Facebook photo albums. The extension is called Facepad [1] [1] https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8442 (more)

Google is again trying to conquer the social arena. This time with Google Buzz [1]. Will it fall to the wayside like Opensocial or will it rise to the top above Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and all other microblogging / status / location based services? One of the coolest things about working at Google is that employees are encouraged to create new and innovative products. While the core of Google's business is advertising, Google tries to make as many products as possible. In other words they shotgun ... (more)

Driving and listening to Rob Black [1] today compared Google to his father... Meaning Google is unhip and doesn't know how to mix it up with the younger generation. Now, I'm 36 and feel a little depressed that I'm out of the 18-35 range, but I still feel that I know a lot about the internet. Of course, not as much as Google, but I find it funny that Rob basically called them out because Google Buzz is a flop. He makes perfect sense, and it's easy to see that Google is trying so hard to grab what Faceboo... (more)

Ask yourself which is more powerful when you are deciding on a purchase: a referral from a friend or colleague; a printed advertisement; or a sales person. Not to second guess you, but I bet overwhelmingly it is someone you have direct contact with, someone who has actually purchased the product or service, or has heard good things about it from a trusted friend. Recommendations are sales gold. (more)

Facebook Turns 6 – You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby

Back in MY day, Facebook was very different than it is now. Only college students were allowed, and the news feed was non-existent. We didn't use Facebook to figure out a company's business hours, talk with our favorite aunt in Vegas or live feeds. Back when it was www.THEfacebook.com, t here was no Farmville, no Mafia Wars, dopplegangers or status updates. The utility of Facebook was brilliantly simple - if you didn't go to class to take notes, send your friend a message (writing on the wall was kind o... (more)
